The Officers of Marion #6
Meet the Team

Ken Manley
Worshipful Master
Ken was born in Lubbock, TX in 1951. At a young age, his family moved to Fort Worth where he lived until graduating from high school. In August of 1969, Ken enlisted in the US Army. He attended Basic Training at Form Leonard Wood, Missouri before being transferred to Fort Devens, Massachusetts where he underwent training to become a High Speed Morse Intercept Operator with the Army Security Agency.
Upon completion of that course, Ken was reassigned to Vietnam where he served with the 101st Airborne Division. Ken spent the next 10 years in the Army serving in Thailand, Massachusetts (again), and Germany. Ken’s military career was rewarding and exciting. It helped hi develop friendships that survive to this day.
After the military, Ken spent the majority of his career in the aerospace and defense field. He returned home in June of 1979 and went to work for General Dynamics on the F16 program. While there, he was recruited by Hughes Helicopters to come work on the Apache Helicopter in Mesa, Arizona as a Manufacturing Engineer. During his tenure at Hughes, he moved into progressively more responsible roles including Production Supervisor, Employee Relations Supervisor, HR Manager for the development of the MD900 helicopter, and finally into the Program Office where he played a major role in the development of the Apache Program for the Saudi Government following Desert Storm.
Ken moved to Iowa in 2004 to work for Collins Aerospace as a Sourcer. While at Collins, Ken founded and led the Military and Veterans Employee Resource Group. In 2010, Ken was diagnosed with PTSD. This led to his commitment to veteran’s issues. Particularly, Vietnam Veterans and Agent Orange related illnesses. Ken has traveled the country to speak with groups regarding Veteran hiring programs and was a keynote speaker at “Transition S.T.E.M., a Wounded Warriors Think Tank” sponsored by the University of Missouri — Kansas City, sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
After leaving Collins in 2014, Ken found his dream job: Barn Manager for Miracles in Motion. In this roll, Ken was responsible for managing and maintaining 77 acres and 16 horses for the equine care center. While there, Ken led the development and implementation of an Equine Therapy porgram for Disabled Vets. In partnership with VA programs, this program was designed to assist veterans and their families in readjusting after the military. Ken held that role until health issues forced him to bow out.
For the past several years, Ken as battled a litany of health issues, mostly related to exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Fortunately, his lovely wife of 28 years, Ginny, has always been by his side and has supported him every step of the way.
In 2012, Ken and Ginny started Dry Creek BBQ, a BBQ catering company. They both love to cook. Unfortunately, health issues were aggravated by the smoke and Ken, sadly, had to close shop. Ken still cooks and loves to share his food with friends.
Ken and Ginny live on 5 acres in Marion with their two mini-Australian Shepherds, Rusty and Fancy.
Ken has been a rancher, a soldier, an actor, a singer, and now, a Mason. He was raised in 2018 and has been active in Marion #6 ever since.
He is extremely proud to have been elected to the position of Worshipful Master of Marion #6.
