Mike Moseley, Webmaster

Mike Moseley, PM 1988
Webmaster, Marion Lodge #6

Brother Mike Moseley was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1948.  Mike’s father (also a Mason) was in the United States Air Force stationed in Japan and thus began his travels as a military brat.  From Japan he moved to Washington D.C. when his father was stationed at The Pentagon.  From there they moved to St.Johns, Newfoundland; Montgomery, Alabama; Plainview, Long Island, New York; Pearisburg, Virginia; Del Rio, Texas; Omaha, Nebraska; Paris, France; and Dayton, Ohio.

Mike is the eldest of 7 children, 2 brothers and 4 sisters: Mark in Phoenix, AZ; Patricia in Manhattan, KS; Melissa in Crozet, VA; Debbie in Huber Heights, OH; Willie in Fairfax, IA; and Pam in New Carlisle, OH.

After Mike graduated from high school in Dayton, he spent the summer playing in a rock and roll band and then in November 1966, he joined the U.S. Air Force.  Basic training was at Lackland AFB, Texas, technical school at Chanute AFB, Illinois, and then assigned to RAF Bentwaters, England for the rest of his 4 year tour.  During his assignment in England, he traveled to Lybia, Spain, Turkey, Germany, and Italy on temporary duty.

After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1970, Mike moved back to Dayton, attended Wright State University and ITT Technical Institute.  While attending ITT Tech, Mike married Melanie Hammon.  Melanie’s father (George, also a Mason) was in the Army and she and Mike met through a mutual friend.  After graduating from ITT Tech in 1974, Mike and Mel moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to both work for Collins Radio, now Rockwell Collins.  In 1990, Mike graduated with honors from Mount Mercy College with a degree in Computer Science.

Mike and Mel have two children, Jennifer and Christopher who are both married.  Jennie lives in Cedar Rapids with her husband Jon, sons Payton and Wade and daughter Zoe.  Chris lives in Tolleson, Arizona with his wife Angela and son Benjamin and daughter Allison.

Mike and Mel retired June 2008 and enjoy traveling and spending time with friends, family and grandchildren.  In the winter they reside in Sun City West, AZ.  They enjoy playing golf with friends wherever they go.  They also enjoy fishing with Jon, Jennie, Payton, Wade, Zoe and Jon’s parents, Steve and Jonnie, at their cabin in Canada.  Mel is a volunteer tour guide at Brucemore Mansion in Cedar Rapids and Mike keeps busy around their new house, playing golf and guitar (not at the same time, however).

Mike was raised in Marion Lodge #6 in 1982, served as Worshipful Master in 1988 and as Chaplain until 2008.  Mike joined Marion Chapter #10, RAM in 1983, served as High Priest in 1985 and served the Grand Chapter Of Iowa as District Deputy Grand High Priest and then as Grand Master of the Third Veil.  Mike then joined Palestine Council and Apollo Commandery in Cedar Rapids and then joined the Scottish Rite and El Kahir Shrine in Cedar Rapids.  After joining the Shrine in 1998, Mike became a member of the Foot Patrol of which he has been Captain since 2000.  Mike has also served as trustee for El Kahir Shrine, its webmaster since 2009 and since 2010 serves as webmaster for Marion Lodge #6.
